Meet one of our tour guides Van! Van Sturgeon grew up in the Lowcountry and has lived all but 13 years of his life here. He graduated from the College of Charleston in 1981 and earned a master’s degree from USC in 1982. In addition to leading carriage tours, he has led cycling tours of Charleston, Beaufort, and Savannah.
Before that, he worked at the National Security Agency, the College of Charleston, Duke University, and the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Math. Van has been working at Palmetto Carriage since 2014. He will tell you emphatically, “This is the best job I’ve ever had.”
